ISCCP Surface Climatology

I: Joint Analysis of ISCCP-D2 and ISCCP-FD Data Sets

Selected surface variables from a joint analysis of ISCCP-D2 and radiation fluxes are available here for the period July 1983 through December 2004. Also available is a surface climatology including monthly, seasonal and annual mean maps (see map grid information page).

Note that the surface climatologies that include the variable "Total Albedo (%)" are represented by data from the year 1992 and thus monthly means are not available for this data since they are represented in the full-record averages. All data available in this segment are at a spatial resolution of 2.5 degrees.

Your selections may be viewed as GIF images or downloaded to your local disk. If you are downloading data, see the browse data format description, and sample FORTRAN read subroutines. These subroutines are NOT the same as the D2READ program used for the full D2 dataset. The full documentation for the ISCCP-D2 dataset is available at the ISCCP New Cloud Data Documentation page.

Note: The full D2 dataset is available from our archives. The monthly mean files (but not the monthly-hourly mean files that describe diurnal cycle) are also available for each month-year from the ISCCP download site in the directories /pub/data/D2/ (Mean Ice/Snow Cover Fraction variable) and /pub/data/surface/ (all other variables).
