CENTER ACTIVITIES

Sector Processing Center (SPC):

During April, NOA, JMA, AES, CSU and ESA processed greater than 88% of A data into B1/B2 data.Normal operations were reported by NOA, JMA, and ESA.AES reported loss of 18 images because of a power fluctuation over a holiday weekend, April 11-13.CSU reported no transmission of METEOSAT-3 images from 1530 UTC on April 15 through 0600 UTC on April 16 because of installation of air conditioning at ESOC. IR data for 0900 through 1800 UTC on April 20 were also lost during instrument decontamination.

Special Area Processing Center (SAPC):

No report received.

Satellite Calibration Center (SCC):

The SCC received AC data for March 93 from NOAA-11 and for April 93 from GMS-4, METEOSAT-3, METEOSAT-4 and GOES-7. BC data for GOES-7 for February and March 93 were sent to the GPC this month.

Global Processing Center (GPC):

The GPC continued to receive B2 data, BC data and correlative data in a routine manner.Production of NOAA-11 (preliminary) B3 data is current.Production of NOAA-12 (preliminary) B3 data is current.Production of GOES-7 (preliminary) B3 data is current. The B2 data delivery backlog includes April - June 92.Production of METEOSAT-3 B3 data has not started yet.Production of METEOSAT-4 (preliminary) B3 data is current.Production of GMS-4 (preliminary) B3 data is current.Production of all INSAT-1 (preliminary) B3 data has been completed. All INSAT-1 B3 have been re-calibrated for January 86 - March 89. Tests of the calibration indicate relatively noisy results, as compared with other geostationary satellites, when the post-processing statistics are examined. Investigation of the precision of these statistics is underway to determine whether the apparent calibration variations are significant.Production of the ice/snow correlative dataset is current.Software revisions for processing of TOVS after the format changes are still in progress.Asbestos removal in the GPC building disrupted computer operations for the first half of May. This stage of building renovations is completed; however, two or three more interruptions are expected during the remainder of this year.

ISCCP Central Archive (ICA):

The ICA continued to receive B1 data from NOA, AES, ESA, CSU and JMA and B3 and C data from the GPC in a routine manner.

SATELLITE HEALTH

The health of GMS-4, METEOSAT-3 (at 75 W), METEOSAT-4, METEOSAT-5, GOES-7, NOAA-11, and NOAA-12 remained good. Launch of NOAA-I has slipped to early July 93.
