CENTER ACTIVITIES

Sector Processing Center (SPC):

During July, NOA, ESA, JMA, and CSU processed greater than 95% of A data into B1/B2 data. AES collected 77% of B1/B2 data.

Normal operations for July were reported by NOA, ESA, JMA and CSU. AES reported continuing loss of data because of poor signal reception (related to a higher inclination orbit of GOES-7); however, one week of data was lost because of a problem with the bit synchronizer that was not rectified until staff returned from vacation.

Special Area Processing Center (SAPC):

No report received.

Satellite Calibration Center (SCC):

SCC reported receipt of AC data for June 94 from GMS-4, for June and July 94 from METEOSAT-3, METEOSAT-5 and GOES-7, and for May, June and July 94 from NOAA-11. BC data for April 94 for GMS-4, METEOSAT-5 and GOES-7 were sent to the GPC.

Global Processing Center (GPC):

The GPC continued to receive B2 data, BC data and correlative data in a routine manner.

Production of NOAA-11 (preliminary) B3 data is current. Final B3 data have been produced for July - September 91.

Production of NOAA-12 (preliminary) B3 data is current. Final B3 data for NOAA-10 have been produced for July - September 91.

Production of GOES-7 (preliminary) B3 data is current. The processing of the UWS replacement B2 data continues. New BT data have been produced for GOES-5, GOES-6 and older GOES-7 B3 data and final B3 data for GOES-7 have been produced for July - September 91.

Production of METEOSAT-3 (preliminary) B3 data is current.

Production of METEOSAT-5 (preliminary) B3 data is current.

Production of GMS-4 (preliminary) B3 data is current. New BT data have been produced for GMS-1, GMS-2, GMS-3 and older GMS-4 and final B3 data for GMS-4 have been produced for July - September 91.

Production of all INSAT-1 (preliminary) B3 data has been completed.

All of the older (pre-June 91) B3 data have been re-calibrated and delivery of the new BT data will commence in a couple of weeks. Final calibration of B3 data beyond June 91 is underway with deliveries to begin next month.

Production of the ice/snow and TOVS correlative datasets is current. The availability of the sea ice data for 93 is being investigated.

Well, re-processing didn't commence -- we are still investigating code gremlins, but we may wrap up the final testing up this week or next. Stay tuned.

ISCCP Central Archive (ICA):

The ICA continued to receive B1 data from NOA, AES, ESA, CSU and JMA and B3 and C data from the GPC in a routine manner.

SATELLITE HEALTH

The health of GMS-4, METEOSAT-3 (at 75 W), METEOSAT-5, GOES-7, NOAA-11 and NOAA-12 remained good. Check out of GOES-8 continues; operations are expected to begin in late October 94. The launch of NOAA-J (to replace NOAA-11) is now scheduled for 12 December 94.
